Provided is a remote operation assistance system which comprises a plurality of portable terminals, and in which an image is transmitted or received via a network among the plurality of portable terminals, and a pointer is displayed in the image, assisting remote operation. The plurality of portable terminals respectively comprise: a call connection unit which carries out a call connection with other portable terminals; a touch panel unit having a display screen which displays an image shared with the other portable terminals after the call connection, and which senses a contact location of the display screen and specifies a manipulation location; a pointer display control unit which displays a pointer in the display screen of the touch panel unit and which carries out a display control of the pointer upon the display screen; and a screen control unit which, on the basis of a relative location relation between location information of a characteristic point of the image which is displayed in the display screen and location information of the pointer, forms a relative coordinate system with the characteristic point of the image being an origin, and carries out a coordinate adjustment corresponding to a difference in display screen sizes with the other portable terminals whereupon the image is shared.
