This invention relates to the field of structural materials engineering and can be used in the manufacture of electrodes for electric arc welding. An electrode for electric arc welding comprising a rod with a cylindrical surface and with end surfaces that are provided with mechanical lock members, the cylindrical surface being covered with a coating, wherein the lock members may be cylindrical and the coating of the cylindrical surface of the electrode has a recess in the form of a complete or partial annular channel extending through the entire thickness of the coating. Unlike the prior art, the proposed invention makes it possible to reduce electrode consumption by eliminating stub ends. Maximum retention of the covering layer on the cylindrical surface of the electrode makes it possible to reduce the consumption of metal rod material per ton of electrodes and also to reduce non-productive consumption of the covering material, a substantial part of which, in the prior art, is stripped after application. |
