<p>Plant for heating primary materials for glass mfr. by fusion comprises a preheater in front of the melting furnace connected to it by a duct leading the waste gases from the furnace in counter current into it, so as to preheat the precursor materials in a fluidised bed. The bed is provided with a discharge chamber, and an efficient dust remover, the outlet tube of which is connected to the discharge chamber, is connected in the duct between the furnace and the preheater. The product yield per unit of heat energy consumed is increased while the compsn. of the powders leaving the preheater corresponds broadly, according to its grain size, to that of the primary materials entering the preheater unlike prior art installations.</p> |
