The present disclosure relates to an illumination system. The illumination system includes a base unit (Figure 1, 3) having means for emitting a directional beam of electromagnetic radiation L, and an aerial platform 5. The aerial platform 5 comprises a luminescent target (Figure 1, 7) for emitting light when energized by the directional electromagnetic beam. The present disclosure also relates to a vehicle V in combination with the illumination system. The aerial platform may comprise of a drone or a remote controlled aircraft. The system may be used to a send a message. The electromagnetic beam may be a laser beam. |
