The present invention makes a worker monitor information of each compartment in a remote site without entering the compartments by detecting harmful gas inside each compartment in the inside of the multi-compartment which has a plurality of compartments, transmitting a detected signal from lower sensor nodes which have respective ID to an upper sensor node, analyzing data information transmitted from the sensor nodes at a gateway, and transmitting the data information to a display unit. A method for detecting harmful gas in a multi-compartment according to the present invention forms through-holes on partitions in between compartments located in a lower side and compartments located in an upper side to be connected with each other among a plurality of compartments partitioned by the partitions to make a wireless signal scattered and be passed through, and arranges sensor nodes in each compartment to detect harmful gas and wirelessly transmit information inside the compartments. The method comprises: a step that an upper sensor node in the upper side receives the information signal inside the lower compartment transmitted through the through-holes from the lower sensor node located in the lower compartment; a step that the upper sensor node continuously transmits the information signal received from the lower sensor node and the information signal of the corresponding compartment detected in the upper sensor node to other upper sensor nodes; a step that the gateway receives and analyzes the information signal of the compartment transmitted from the uppermost sensor node; and a step that the information of each compartment is outputted to the display unit in the outside.
