A self-ligating bracket includes a bracket body (102) with a mesial (144) and a distal channel (146). A spring clip (104) includes a distal arm (120) with a distal arm body (130) and a distal finger (132) and a mesial arm (118) with a mesial arm body (124) and a mesial finger (126). The spring clip (104) is slidably secured within the bracket body (102) by a sliding engagement of the distal arm (120) with the distal channel (146) and the mesial arm (118) with the mesial channel (144). The spring clip (104) is movable between an open position and a closed position wherein in the open position, the arch wire slot (116) is unobstructed and in the closed position the mesial finger (126) and distal finger (132) extend into and across the arch wire slot (116) to occlude the arch wire slot (116).
