An apparatus, comprising: a capacitor case sealed to retain electrolyte; electrolyte disposed in the capacitor case; a capacitor electrode disposed in the capacitor case, the capacitor electrode includes a foil substrate; an electronic component, other than the capacitor electrode, mounted directly onto the capacitor electrode foil substrate and disposed in the capacitor case, the electronic component including two contacts, with a first contact mounted directly onto the capacitor electrode foil substrate and with a second contact mounted onto a terminal disposed on an exterior of the capacitor case and sealingly extending through the capacitor case, the first and second contacts electrically isolated from one another; an additional capacitor electrode disposed in the capacitor case; a separator disposed between the capacitor electrode and the additional capacitor electrode; and an additional terminal disposed on the exterior of the capacitor case and in electrical communication with the additional capacitor electrode, with the terminal and the additional terminal electrically isolated from one another, wherein the electronic component is a transformer disposed in the capacitor case and thermally coupled to the capacitor electrode.
