A vehicle control device for controlling a vehicle that is provided with: an automatic driving source stopping unit for automatically stopping the driving source when a specified automatic stop condition is met; and an electric oil pump, which is driven when the driving source is automatically stopped and is stopped when the automatic stop condition is no longer met. The vehicle control device is provided with a total time-calculating unit for calculating the total time, which is obtained by totaling the time that the electric oil pump is driven, and a drive-prohibiting unit for prohibiting the driving of the electric oil pump for a driving prohibition period when the total time reaches a specified drive time.
