This light-emitting device (1) is characterized by the provision of an organic electroluminescent element (2), a first color-conversion part (31) through which first-color light (C1) can pass, and a second color-conversion part (32) through which second-color light (C2) can pass. Said light-emitting device (1) is also characterized in that: the organic electroluminescent element (2) has a positive electrode (21), a negative electrode (22), and one or more organic layers (23) between said positive electrode (21) and negative electrode (22); at least one of said organic layers (23) is a light-emitting layer (25) containing a host material and a dopant material that emits light including the abovementioned first-color light (C1) and second-color light (C2); and the difference (&Dgr;ST(D)) between the singlet energy (EgS(D)) of the aforementioned dopant material and the energy gap (Eg77K(D)) of the dopant material at 77 K satisfies relation (1).
