Machine (200) for cutting part (2b) of a tyre (2) up into pieces (2s), comprising, in combination: - a frame (201); - means (204) on which said tyre (2) rubber (2b) can rest supported, defining a supporting surface (303) intended to support the tyre (2) rubber (2b); - a cutting station (214) comprising cutting means (205) for making a cut in said rubber (2b) so as to cut it up into pieces (2s); - tyre (2) rubber (2b) feed means (203) configured to supply said rubber (2b) resting on the supporting surface (303) to the cutting station (214); a device (300) for the placement of the tyre rubber (2b) comprising means (301) for holding said rubber (2b) which are configured to come into contact with the tyre (2) rubber (2b) and immobilize it and which are connected to the frame (201) in such a way as to be able to move relative to the frame (201) in order to handle said rubber (2b) with respect to the frame (201) so as to make the rubber (2b) rest on the supporting surface (303) in an opened-out configuration.
