PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device for saving energy by securing fixability in consideration of the kind of a recording material and to provide an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: In the fixing device including a fixing member, a pressure member forming a fixing nip part between the pressure member and the fixing member, heating means for heating the fixing member, and heating control means for controlling the heating means and allowing the recording material carrying an unfixed image to pass through the fixing nip part, to perform fixation, the fixing member has a preliminarily heated region which is preliminarily heated. The preliminarily heated region corresponds to the downstream side of an image region in the conveyance direction of the recording material. The heating control means changes the width of the preliminarily heated region in the rotational direction of the fixing member, according to the kind of the recording material. |
