PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify a user of an abnormality at an appropriate timing in a configuration in which a developer is supplied from a developer container to a developing unit.SOLUTION: When detecting contamination on a light path of a toner detection sensor 29A, a CPU 51 adds an amount of toner Xs increased by a toner supplied from a toner container 22A to a residual amount of toner Rs before the toner supply and deducts the amount of toner Xc decreased by toner consumption accompanied by image forming processing, to calculate a residual amount of toner R of a developing unit 21A. The CPU 51 also calculates error notification toner consumption Te which is an amount of toner consumption before blurring starts to be generated on a formed image and warning notification toner consumption Tw less than the error notification toner consumption. Thereby, the CPU 51 notifies a user of warning when toner consumption C caused by print processing exceeds the warning notification toner consumption Tw; and notifies the user of an error when the toner consumption C exceeds the error notification toner consumption Te to forcibly stop an image forming apparatus 1. |
