PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device for appropriately alerting a driver without making him/her feel strange, and improving a driving support function.SOLUTION: In a driving support device for notifying a driver of information on an object relatively approaching a vehicle, a portable information terminal 9 and an on-vehicle notification unit 6 placed inside the vehicle are each communicably connected to control means 5. The driver is notified of the information via the information terminal 9 and the notification unit 6. The driving support device comprises first determination means 22 for determining an existence direction of the object based on a position of the vehicle, and second determination means 24 for determining a placement direction of the information terminal 9 based on a driver seat 2. When the placement direction and the existence direction match, the driving support device causes the information terminal 9 to output the information on the approaching object to notify the driver. On the other hand, when the placement direction and the existence direction do not match, the driving support device causes the notification unit 6 to output the information on the approaching object to notify the driver. |
