PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology to perform, in an image forming apparatus, image formation with stable density characteristics irrespective of a density area, while reducing a frequency to form a patch image for density measurement as much as possible to reduce dead time.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus of the present invention performs first gradation correction of forming a patch image for density measurement on a photoconductor drum at a predetermined timing, and correcting gradation characteristics of an image to be formed with a correction amount according to a result of the density measurement. The image forming apparatus further performs second gradation correction of correcting, at a predetermined frequency, the intensity of laser light output from an exposure device on the basis of the detection or an estimation result of a charge amount of a toner used for image formation, and correcting the gradation characteristics with a correction amount according to the detection or the estimation result of the charge amount of the toner. |
