The invention relates to a controlled fluid release system (10) and an insect trap or monitor incorporating such a system. It facilitates the slow release of a pressurised fluid (14), such as carbon dioxide from a pressurised container or cartridge (12) having a capacity of under 1kg and which is held at a pressure of above 689 kPa. Through the provision of a flow impeder, in the form of a porous element (18), flow rates can be slowed to below 15ml/min thus enabling the use of small discrete traps which can operate for up to a week without the need to replace the attractant. |
