PURPOSE:To make a resistance to oxidation better and to enhance both a coercive force and a saturation magnetization, by forming a layer in which a transition metal is contained in oxide powder on the surfaces of oxide particles which are the precursor of ferromagnetic metal powder and in which the basic constituent consists of iron oxide, under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A layer, which has a silicon compound layer containing 0.2-1.0wt.% silicon to the amount of iron in ferromagnetic metal powder and includes a non-ferrous transition metal compound on the silicon compound layer, is formed on the surfaces of ferromagnetic metal particles in which the basic constituent consists of iron. That is, after a silicon compound film is formed on the surfaces of oxide particles in which the basic constituent consists of iron oxide, a film which contains a non-ferrous transition metal is formed on the silicon compound film by employing an alkali and either a non-ferrous transition metal salt or a ferrous salt and the non-ferrous transition metal salt. Subsequently, reduction is performed without this laminating order being put into disorder. |
