1. A medical device comprising:
a catheter; a balloon mounted on the catheter, the balloon extending longitudinally from a distal end to a proximal end and having an outer surface, the balloon radially expandable from a first state wherein the balloon has a first diameter to an inflated state wherein the balloon has a second diameter greater than the first diameter; wherein the balloon, in the inflated state, defines a laterally-facing body portion that extends along the portion of the balloon having the largest diameter, the lateral-facing body portion comprising a lateral-facing surface, wherein the outer surface of the balloon comprises:
the lateral-facing surface,a distal-facing surface extending from the distal end of the lateral-facing surface to the distal end of the balloon and having a diameter less than the lateral-facing surface, anda proximal-facing surface extending from the proximal end of the lateral-facing surface to the proximal end of the balloon and having a diameter less than the lateral-facing surface, wherein at least a portion of the outer surface of the balloon comprises a micropattern. |
