1. A latch for a latch assembly comprising:
a body (413) including a locking end (415) and an engagement end (417) spaced from the locking end (415) along a first axis (X), with the engagement end (417) of the body (413) adapted to engage with a connecting rod (215) of a latch assembly (10), with the body (413) further including a transverse groove (433) extending along a second axis (Y) perpendicular to the first axis (X), with the body (413) further including a face (431) extending between the locking end (415) and the engagement end (417), with an engagement hole (435) extending from the face (431) of the body (413) to the transverse groove (433), with the body (413) further including a longitudinal hole (439) extending from the engagement end (417) to the transverse groove (433), with the latch (411) movable along the first axis (X) between a latching position and an unlatching position, with the locking end (415) of the latch (411) in the unlatching position adapted to be received in a door (275), with the locking end (415) of the latch (411) in the latching position adapted to extend out of the door (275) into a groove (37) in a door frame (31) or a groove (300) in a ground (299); a stop (495) made of a material having a melting point lower than a melting point of the body (413) of the latch (411), with the stop (495) received in the engagement hole (435) of the body (413); a first ear (455) pivotably received in the transverse groove (433) of the body (413), with the first ear (455) including first and second ends (457, 459) spaced from each other along the first axis (X), with the first ear (455) further including an inner side (471) extending between the first and second ends (457, 459), with the first ear (455) pivotable between a storage position in the transverse groove (433) and a blocking position partially extending out of the transverse groove (433); a pressing pin (497) received in the longitudinal hole (439) and slideable along the first axis (X) between a pressing position and a non-pressing position; and a spring (513) mounted in the longitudinal hole (439), with the spring (513) biasing the pressing pin (497) to press against the inner side (471) of the first ear (455) and biasing the pressing pin (497) from the non-pressing position to the pressing position, with the first ear (455) in the storage position and the pressing pin (497) in the non-pressing position, the latch (411) is pivotable between the latching and unlatching positions, and with the latch (411) in the latching position and the first ear (455) in the storage position, if the stop (495) is melted by heat, the pressing pin (497) is moved by the spring (513) from the non-pressing position to the pressing position and presses against the inner side (471) of the first ear (455) to pivot the first ear (455) from the storage position to the blocking position, retaining the latch (411) in the latching position. |
