摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for preventing the uplift of pillars without stopping the pillars from falling in a multistoried building wherein each of the pillars is disconnected from a base. SOLUTION: The lower part of each of the pillars P in the multistoried building 1 is disconnected from the base B. The side surfaces of the pillars P1, P4 in the building 1 receiving an uplift force at an earthquake are opposed to the base B or a load-transmission building frame 10 connected to the base B at a predetermined gap d therebetween. In the opposing gap d, a wedge mechanism 20 is provided which blocks the gap d when the pillars P are uplifted, and which releases the blockage when the pillars P fall. Preferably, the wedge mechanism 20 includes: a tapered wedge-receiving member 22 which is fixed on the gap opposing surface of the base B or the load-transmission building frame 10; a tapered wedge member 21 which is fitted into the opposing gap d from the lower side while being frictionally engaged with the gap opposing surface of the pillar P; and a support member 23 which supports the wedge member 21 on the lower side of the opposing gap d while supporting the wedge member 21 on the base B or the load-transmission building frame 10.
