The actuator (1) has a first portion (8) comprising an electric motor (5) and a connection unit (15) to connect the actuator to external control element (4). A second portion (9) has a pusher (6) mounted to slide so as to project from the second portion through an opening (30). The second portion has a measurement unit (21) to measure operating characteristic of the actuator. The portions have antennas (14, 22) connected to the units. The antennas are arranged to be electromagnetically coupled when the portions are coupled together so as to transfer electrical signals between the units.
