<p>A substrate for controlling the transmission of light therethrough has a light reflecting layer affixed to a light transmitting layer. The light reflecting layer is divided into a plurality of subdivisions arranged in a plurality of rows. Each subdivision has an area, is spaced apart from adjacent subdivisions, and has a different thickness than the light transmitting layer between the subdivisions. By controlling the size, spacing and thickness of the subdivisions and the thickness of the light reflecting layer between the subdivisions it is possible to control the light transmitted through and reflected from the substrate. A method of making the substrate by ablating the light reflecting layer is also disclosed.</p> |
