PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for monitoring and controlling an optical modulator for an M-QAM (M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) transmitter.SOLUTION: A system for monitoring and controlling an optical modulator for an M-QAM transmitter comprises: an optical power meter for generating an optical power signal corresponding to an optical output of a reception output signal generated by an optical IQ (In-Phase Quadrature) modulator; and a processor. The processor receives the optical power signal and determines, on the basis of an algorithm for the minimization and the received optical power signal, a first bias voltage to be applied to a first sub modulator of the optical IQ modulator and a second bias voltage to be applied to a second sub modulator of the optical IQ modulator. The system may further comprise a peak power meter for generating a peak power signal corresponding to a peak power of the reception output signal generated by the optical IQ modulator, and the processor further determines a third bias voltage to be applied to a phase shift component of the optical IQ modulator on the basis of the minimization algorithm and the peak power signal. |
