A memory module includes an input/output (I/O) interface adapted to fit into a system random access memory (RAM) socket. The module also includes at least one controller coupled to the VO interface, the controller comprising a plurality of registers, and a plurality of non-volatile memory devices coupled to the controller. In the module, when data is received at the I/O interface, the received data is stored using at least one of the plurality of registers and the controller performs one of a plurality of non-volatile memory operations on at least a portion of the plurality of non-volatile memory devices based on the received data.
