This invention relates to a use of folate for the prevention and/or treatment of cardiovascular diseases, such as atherosclerosis, and in particular, for modulating endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS). The invention further relates to pharmaceutical preparations consisting of the folate and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, optionally in combination with other pharmaceutically active agents, as well as therapeutic methods using the folate or the pharmaceutical preparations thereof. |
