The present invention relates to a double-needle sewing machine that is capable of detecting various abnormalities by detecting movements of threads put through needle bars in and out of operation. According to the double-needle sewing machine (100) of the present invention, one of the two needle bars (110, 120) is driven through control or setting and sewing is performed by sewing needles (11, 12) provided in the selected needle bar. The double-needle sewing machine has two thread cutting sensors (161, 162) that detect movements of upper thread (U1, U2) which are respectively supplied to the sewing needle (11) of the selected and driven one needle bar (110) and the sewing needle (12) of the stationary and non-driven other needle bar (120). A control device (90 (CPU (91)) for the sewing machine is capable of determining an operation situation of the double-needle sewing machine based on a combination of the driving states of the two needle bars (110, 120) and the movements of the respective upper threads (U1, U2) detected by the two sensors (161, 162). |
