The process involves transmitting waves from a transmitter (E) towards perpendicular plane surfaces and receiving echoes of the waves at receivers (R1, R2). Energy of the echoes is analyzed to find inclination between principle axes of transmission and normal to the surfaces. Platform nose location is calculated by determining a point (N) based on intersection of lines passing through impact points (S, V) of the waves on the surfaces.
