This washing and sterilization method for an object such as medical equipment, medical equipment for animals, meat processing equipment and cooking utensils involves an alkaline electrolyzed water washing step for subjecting the object to ultrasonic washing or agitation washing with alkaline electrolyzed water over a first prescribed period of time, and, after the alkaline electrolyzed water washing step, an acidic electrolyzed water washing step for subjecting the object to agitation washing or immersion in acidic electrolyzed water for a second prescribed period of time.
