The method involves transmitting current temperature value of a liquid marking substance and or injection pressure measured through a spray nozzle (5) to a computing and control unit (19) of a marking machine (1). The pressure value and the temperature of the marking substance are compared, entered in a tabular column and differentiated based on stored values for reference spacing of the nozzle to a to-be-marked surface (10) so as to determine a correct value of change of pressure or temperature of the substance. The determined value is used for vertical adjustment of a spray head (4). An independent claim is also included for a device for maintaining a constant width of a mark line.
