<p>An exercise machine with an operating member arranged to move in a horizontal arc about a vertical axis and a vertical arc about a horizontal axis and means to provide resistance to movement wherein the device is arranged so that a user can perform rotary torso and abdominal crunch exercises. The device may use friction pads, elastic bands, a spring or pneumatic or hydraulic struts for resistance means. The device may have a range of exercise modules to perform a plurality of additional exercises including chest presses, shoulder presses or leg extensions. The operating members may be handles or bars. There may also be a computer controlled display 114 which displays exercise routines and has a physiological characteristic sensor.</p> |
