PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an obstacle and notify a user of the detected obstacle. ! SOLUTION: A portable electronic apparatus 103 comprises: obstacle detection means 100 which detects an obstacle in front of the apparatus; and notification means 102 which, when the obstacle detection means 100 detects an obstacle in front of the apparatus, notifies a user 101 of existence of the obstacle. As the apparatus can detect only obstacles in front of the apparatus to notify the user and does not detect surrounding obstacles like in a second related technique, the apparatus does not issue a complicated warning which annoys the user. !
