An electrical connection system for detachably connecting an electrical device 101 to electrical supply cables, comprises a plug 40 electrically connectable to the device and a socket 24 electrically connectable to the cables. The socket provides a mounting and an electrical connection with the plug via corresponding contacts. The mounting connection is releasable and allows the plug to be rotatable in said socket. The contacts of the socket and the plug are arranged so that when the plug is mounted in the socket they are electrically connected with one another in any orientation of the plug in the socket, for example the plug may have annular contacts. The mounting connection between the plug and socket comprises locating pins around an outer periphery of a plug housing configured to engage with an open end of pin locating slots in the socket leading to a mounting channel. The locating pins are rotatable around the channel. The connectors may be used to mount a light fitting to a ceiling. |
