A method and an apparatus for data communication using a set-top box are provided to improve user's convenience and mobility by directly recording a digital broadcasting program in a device such as a mobile phone with a bluetooth function, except for a digital program receiver. A broadcasting signal is received by a set-top box. An AV(Audio Video) digital signal and a non-AV digital signal are separated from the received broadcasting signal. The AV digital signal and the non-AV digital signal are displayed or stored by a mobile terminal according to selection. An instruction of the mobile terminal is transmitted to the set-top box. If the instruction is a non-AV digital data transmission instruction of the broadcasting signal, non-AV digital data and an AV picture matched with the non-AV digital data are packeted. If the instruction is an AV digital data transmission instruction of the broadcasting signal, AV digital data is packeted. The packeted data is transmitted to the mobile terminal. The packeted data transmitted to the mobile terminal is converted into the digital data before the packeting. |
