A device (10) for helping an individual to put on an item of clothing, having a pair of openings therein for the individuals legs, has a pair of elongate foot rests (11, 12), each being mounted at one end (13, 14), to a support plate (15) at respective positions (16, 17). The foot rests (11, 12) are upstanding from the support plate (15) so as to leave a free space (18) around each foot rest (11, 12). An item of clothing, such as trousers or underwear, is placed, by way of its leg openings, over and around the foot rests (11, 12). The individual then places their feet on the foot rests and pulls the item of clothing up their legs. Examples are shown mounted on a vertical surface (42) with a roller blind positioning mechanism (46) to move the device to a position suitable for placing the clothing, and mounted on a seat (73) with hinges (74, 75) enabling device movement to a position for placing clothing. |
