PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating type magnetic recording medium for heat-assisted recording, which allows high capacity and high-density recording.SOLUTION: The coating type magnetic recording medium for heat-assisted recording comprises: a magnetic layer including ferromagnetic powder and a binder on a non-magnetic organic support medium; a heat blocking layer having thermal conductivity lower than that of the magnetic layer between the non-magnetic organic support medium and the magnetic layer; and a non-magnetic layer containing non-magnetic powder and a binder and having thermal conductivity higher than that of the heat blocking layer between the non-magnetic organic support medium and the heat blocking layer.
