PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press device which is capable of increasing productivity while reducing an impact force during pressing and to provide a method for controlling the same.SOLUTION: A press device 1 comprises: a position detection part 21 which detects the position of a die cushion 8; a load detection part 22 which detects a load on the die cushion 8; and a control part 23 which controls the die cushion 8. When a detection value of the load detection part 22 is at a predetermined threshold value or smaller, the control part 23 controls the die cushion 8 on the basis of a first operation amount based on the position of the die cushion 8, and after the detection value of the load detection part 22 exceeds the threshold value, the control part 23 controls the die cushion 8 on the basis of the first operation amount and a second operation amount based on the load on the die cushion 8 while gradually decreasing the first operation amount and gradually increasing the second operation amount 2. Thus, shifting from a positional control based on the position of the die cushion 8 to a load control based on the load on the die cushion 8 can be smoothly and quickly performed. |
