The present invention relates to a parking mechanism for an automatic transmission to release a parking gear installed inside the automatic transmission with a small force when a gear lever is changed from a′P′range to other ranges for a restart after parking on a ramp. In the parking mechanism according to the present invention, a manual control shaft (10) interworking with the gear lever is coupled to a detent plate (20). A parking rod (30) is installed on the detent plate (20). A locking arm (90) is fixed to a front end of the parking rod (30). A spring guide sleeve (100) with a cam (40) and a first spring (31) is inserted into an extension rod. A second spring (71) for fixing the position of the sleeve is installed.
