PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data writer provided with a write pole that exhibits high write field gradient and reduced adjacent track interference thereby having stable magnetic shielding.SOLUTION: A data writer is provided at least with a write pole 204 within a box shield that consists of first and second side shields 210 and first and second vertical shields 214, 216. The write pole may be separated from the box shield by a multi-layer gap structure that consists of at least two gap layers 206, 208 of dissimilar materials. |
