<p>This image processing device comprises an illumination unit which, in a polarization imaging mode, sequentially illuminates a subject with a first illumination light which is polarized in a first direction and a second illumination light which is polarized in a second direction that intersects with the first direction. In the polarization imaging mode, this device acquires first and second polarized images which are composed of signals of light that have passed through polarizers that have polarization transmission axes in directions that are parallel to and intersect with the first direction when the subject is illuminated with the first illumination light and third and fourth polarized images which are composed of signals of light that have passed through polarizers that have polarization transmission axes in directions that are parallel to and intersect with the second direction when the subject is illuminated with the second illumination light, and detects recessed regions on the surface of the subject on the basis of at least one pair of the pair of the first and second polarized images and the pair of the third and fourth polarized images.</p> |
