A gas fire fireplace arrangement 10 includes a gas fire 12 and a fireplace surround assembly 14. The gas fire 12 comprises a housing 16 defining an interior 18 having a front opening 20. A first flange 22 is located at the opening 20 and extends outwardly from the housing 16 with a second flange 24 spaced rearward from the first flange 22 and extending outwardly from the housing 16. A surround member 50 defines a space 52 with a surround opening 54, and an infill member 56 defines an infill opening 58. The gas fire 12 is installed in the infill opening 58. The first 22 and second 24 flanges may extend continuously along the side walls 28 and top wall of the housing 16. The side walls 28 may taper inwardly from the opening 20 so that the width of the opening is wider than the width of the housing 16 at the location of the second flange 24. The second flange 24 may have a rearward facing surface to which a seal 42 may be applied. |
