The present invention relates to an apparatus for controlling a traffic light using a bicycle signal and a method thereof. The apparatus for controlling the traffic light using the bicycle signal according to the present invention includes: a sensing part for sensing at least one bicycle located at a traffic light crossroad; a data generation part for generating sensing data on the basis of the sensed bicycle; a collection part for receiving and collecting a first lighting control signal of the traffic light installed at the traffic light crossroad from a traffic light management server; a calculation part for calculating a bicycle green lighting time for the bicycle to cross the traffic light crossroad, in case the bicycle is located at the traffic light crossroad, on the basis of the sensing data and the first lighting control signal; and a transmission part for transmitting a second lighting control signal of the traffic light in order for the bicycle green light corresponding to the bicycle green lighting time to be lit in the traffic light. Thus, according to the present invention, the bicycle can be used as one traffic transportation unit on a road, by sensing the bicycle located at the traffic light crossroad, and calculating the bicycle green lighting time for the bicycle to cross the traffic light crossroad. |
