In a pinking attachment according to the parent Specification, the ledger blade 26 is angularly adjustable in its own plane relative to the rotary cutter 50 to permit accurate align-. ment of the shearing edges. The blade is housed between a base 16 fixed to the machine bed and a guide 20 having a bearing 30 for the cutter. Rabbets in the guide permit limited transverse movement of the blade by means of an adjustable sliding bar 68 having vertical knife edges engaging the blade. A bore 51 in the cutter co-acts with a bearing-point 46 on the nose piece 36 of the blade and the cutter and blade are held together by a tensioning-device 62. The cutter has a flange 52 which prevents its blades overriding the shearing edges of the ledger blade, and a non-rotary lint deflecting member 86 is interposed between the bearing 30 and the cutter. The .cutter is driven from gearing by rods and universal-joints and one joint is provided with a bayonet coupling. Spiral gears in the drive cause the cutter to thrust against the bearing point 46.
