The household appliance has a control unit (14) for controlling a work process for cleaning or drying of treatment materials and a working chamber for receiving the treatment materials during the work process. An air heating unit (6) is provided for heating the working chamber by an air flow (LS). The air heater comprises a fan (7) for generating the air flow and a heater (8) for heating the air flow. The control unit is formed for influencing a volume flow of the air flow by influencing a rotational speed of the fan depending on a preset value (VW) for the volume flow of the air flow and depending on an actual value of the volume flow of the air flow. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a household appliance, particularly household dishwasher, household washer-drier or household drier.
