The present invention relates to a side-type backlight unit in which a light from a light emitting diode light source is induced to be emitted to upper vertical direction through a light guide plate and a prism sheet. The backlight unit comprises: a light guide plate in which a lens-shaped first pattern is formed tightly as getting farther away from the light source on a lower surface; a LED light source disposed at least one side of the light guide plate; and a prism sheet, having a prism pattern on a lower surface, disposed on the upper part of the light guide plate, wherein the light guide plate controls the light to be emitted with 65-75 degrees of vertical exit angle to the upper surface. |
