The present invention relates to a composition comprising a sterol synthesis inhibitor for increasing lipid content of algae or microorganism, and more particularly, to a composition for increasing the lipid content of algae or microorganism so as to increase the efficiency of the production of lipids which is usable as bioenergy. Algae has characteristics of having a significantly small lipid content in a general condition rich in nutrients, and has characteristics in that the growth of the algae stops and the lipids are synthesized in a stressful environment such as nutrition deficiency, and therefore, the use of lipids contained in algae as a source of bioenergy is limited. The composition of the present invention may overcome such characteristics of algae and can be significantly applied in using lipids as a source of bioenergy. |
