摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element capable of obtaining stable luminescent properties.SOLUTION: Provided is an organic electroluminescent element 1 having an anode 3, a hole injection layer 4, a luminescent layer 5, and a cathode 6. The hole injection layer 4 comprises: a conductive polymer layer including a polymer configured from a monomer selected from thiophene having a substituent group at its 3 and 4 positions; an anion generated from a compound which is a non-sulfonic acid system organic compound as a dopant; and an anion molecular weight of which compound is 200 or greater. This conductive polymer layer has a film thickness of 10 nm or more, its square average surface roughness of a surface 4s facing a luminescent layer 5 being in the range 2 to 10 nm and 30% or less of a thickness 4t. The hole injection layer 4 is suitably formed by introducing a base substance 2 having the anode 3 on its surface into a polymerization liquid containing a solvent composed mainly of water and carrying out electrolytic polymerization under a condition where a conduction charge amount is 1.5 mC/cmand over to less than 18 mC/cm.
