The purpose of the present invention is to provide a nickel-cobalt composite hydroxide which has a narrow particle size distribution and high particle size uniformity. A process for manufacturing a nickel-cobalt composite hydroxide represented by formula Ni1-x-yCoxMnyMz(OH)2 [wherein 0.05≤x≤0.95, 0≤y≤0.55, 0≤z≤0.1, x+y+z<1, and M is at least one metal element selected from among Al, Mg and so on], characterized by including: a seed particle formation step wherein seed particles are formed by stirring a reaction aqueous solution with the impeller discharge head adjusted to 50 to 100m2/s2 and with the nickel ion concentration kept in a range of 0.1 to 5 ppm by mass, said reaction aqueous solution being composed of both a mixed aqueous solution which contains the corresponding metal compounds and an aqueous ammonia solution which contains an ammonium ion donor; and a seed particle growth step wherein the seed particles are grown by stirring an aqueous solution for seed particle growth with the nickel ion concentration kept in a range of 5 to 300 ppm by mass and at a level higher than that of the seed particle formation step, said aqueous solution for seed particle growth being obtained by feeding a mixed aqueous solution described above and an aqueous ammonium solution to the reaction aqueous solution which has undergone the seed particle formation step. |
