1. A method of inhibiting photoreceptor apoptosis comprising administering to a subject a photoreceptor protective composition comprising a photoreceptor protective polypeptide comprising: a) a fragment of MET comprising SEQ ID NO:1(MET12), or (b) a fragment of MET that comprises at least 70% sequence similarity to MET12, wherein said polypeptide inhibits FAS-mediated photoreceptor apoptosis, and wherein said photoreceptor protective composition is administered to said subject intraocularly, intravitrealy, or periocularly. |
