The present invention provides aerosolised anti-infectives for inhalation. Preferably, the anti-infective is free unencapsulated ciprofloxacin or a liposome encapsulated anti-infective. This formulation of anti-infective agent allows for a high therapeutic level of the active, conveying the advantages of treating difficult-to-treat biofilm bacterial infections, decreased potential for development of resistant strains, enhanced penetration of the glycoalyx and decreased frequency of administration. This will be particularly useful in combating lung infections associated with cystic fibrosis. |
