The present invention is directed to the discovery, isolation, identification and methods of synthesis of a novel chemical complex that can be used to stabilize mixtures of different chemical compounds, and in particular mixtures of different herbicidal compounds.

1. A novel complexing agent for use in stabilizing a herbicidal composition wherein said complexing agent is a reaction product of:
a. a herbicidal compound capable of transesterification and subject to relatively rapid hydrolysis of the esters in the absence of a weak acid buffer system; and b. a weak acid buffer system.
