<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-corrosive epoxy resin excellent in terms of weather resistance and heat resistance.SOLUTION: A cured product of an epoxy resin including a diglycidyl ether including C3-5 alicyclic rings is provided. The epoxy resin is manufactured by a method including (a) a step of forming a reaction mixture including a diol having a specified structure, an epihalohydrin, a phase transfer catalyst, and, if necessary, an organic solvent, (b) a step of contacting a substance serving a basic function and water with the reaction mixture of the step (a), (c) a step of washing, with an aqueous solvent, the mixture of the step (b) so as to virtually remove salts therefrom, and (d) a step of isolating the epoxy resin. The epoxy resin exhibits a glass transition temperature higher and a viscosity lower than their counterparts of an epoxy resin obtained from cyclohexanedimethanol.</p> |
